    • I hiked it in one day, from the midpoint of Mt Fuji (5th Station) to the top, which most people do. It took about 11 hours in total -6 to go up, 2 walking around at the top, since there’re two large craters, and the remainder getting down to the 5th Station.


  1. Nice overview – it must be hard to pick only a few photos from such an extensive trip! A good reminder that Japan isn’t all cities – I don’t think of Japan as a place for beautiful scenery but your photo of Matsumoto inspires me.


    • Thanks, I did indeed have to choose from lots of good photos. Rural Japan can be scenic, and the mountains in the Japan Alps, such as Tateyama near Matsumoto, are quite nice.
