The Olympic Games kicked off on Friday and I’m starting to care about sports I normally don’t even think about. Chinese swimmer Sun Yang has already lived up to expectations by becoming the first Chinese man to win a gold medal in swimming, breaking an Olympic record in the process. A female swimmer also won gold for China, also breaking a world record, which isn’t surprising because women always do well for China. Sun, only 20 years old, was expected to win gold since he broke a 10-year record in the 1500M freestyle in 2011.
Meanwhile India kicked up a storm over a bizarre incident where an unidentified woman marched in front of its athletes for the Parade of Nations. Not only did the woman cause consternation with her presence, but she took up a lot of attention for the supposed 10 seconds that India was shown on the TV broadcast. Definitely boldfaced of that woman, who looks very proud of herself, with a broad grin on her face.
