Thought of the day, or rather the night, which it is now in Taiwan.
I like here a lot, here being Taipei, Taiwan, ROC, for a number of reasons. On the other hand, living here has also taught me some hard lessons, particularly the drawbacks of “Chinese culture” and why Chinese/Asians can never seriously hope to lead the world, to influence the world, and earn the respect and conversely hatred and jealousy of people around the world. I’m too tired to explain any of this now, but it’s definitely something that I’ve slowly come to grasp over the past few years, not something that just popped into my mind randomly a few minutes ago.
On the other hand, I am happy that Li Na, China’s great female tennis player, won the French Open Saturday, becoming the first Chinese player to be a Grand Slam tournament singles champion, as well as the first ever from Asia. She’s a beacon of what I hope China could be someday, a winner leading an entire continent.
